Need content ideas for your blog or social media? I’ve got 27 for you!
Content. It’s king. Or so everyone says. And I’m not going to dispute that at all. Your content is king. As long as it provides value to your readers, followers or clients. I hate to sound crass, but if you are not providing some sort of value to your readers then you are wasting their time and yours.
What is valuable content? It’s content that provides information for your clients, customers or readers when they need it. The tricky part of course in the timing. We can create an amazing blog post or social media update but if no one NEEDS it at that time, it falls to the wayside. We have very little control over individuals needs but we can make educated guesses.
The easiest way to find out what your readers, clients or followers want to see is by asking them. And that’s a great way to start! But we can’t constantly be asking “What valuable content can I share with you today?” It will drive your people away real quick.
The second way to find out is to use generalization. For example, people are generally looking for Christmas ideas between the months of October through December. That means that any Christmas content is valuable to them at that time.
The third way to is hone in on your content is to use analytics on your social sites and your blog or website. You will get an idea pretty quick of what people like and don’t like by diving into the numbers of it all.
Now the best part is that you don’t have create or even find BRAND NEW content for each of your social media sites. Imagine if you are on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Google+ and you share 2 times a day on each. That’s 12 different pieces of VALUABLE CONTENT you would need to find EACH DAY!
I’ve said it before (and I’m sure I’ll say it again) but be sure to use your content across all of your social media and blogging platforms. Take one content idea and tweak it to fit each platform. I would start with your blog. Write a post and then share it around the social media-sphere making sure to change the wording for each platform.
Why share it all over? Here’s the deal – your past, present and future customers do NOT follow you on all of your social channels. It would be great if they did, but the truth is that they probably only follow you on one or two. You want them to see your content and the easiest way to share it around each network. If they see it twice, no big deal. At least they saw it!
So what types of content am I talking about? Here are some content ideas to get you started:
- FAQ’s – Write a post about your most frequently asked business questions.
- Progress post – Share updates to a big project on your blog or social media channels. (This would do GREAT on Instagram!)
- Product demonstrations – Show potential customers how to use your products.
- Recipes – Share recipes that you created making sure to incorporate your products or services.
